I was listening to my dad's Ipod and found this song.
I think the song is about a girl who thinks they could live there dream if they left their small town and the singer is trying to convince them not to leave because he loves her and doesn't want her to go. He thinks that life is fine in a small town and there is no need to live your dreams.

Some Driving Songs...

On CBC last weekend, they were talking about driving songs, and listeners called in and told them their favourite songs to listen to while driving. Well, I think one of my favourite songs to listen to while I am a passenger in a car that is driving, is "The Crane Wife Pt. 3" by the Decemberists. I think this is a great song to listen to while driving on the highway through the mountains at dusk, just as the sun is about to go behind the peaks, and then it's night. I don't know why, but if you imagine just the rhythm, melody and music part, and forget about the words, then it really fits in with the winding roads and the tall mountains around you. Off course, the words are great too, not that I can really make much sense of them....

Smile While You're Bleeding

This song that I'm about to post about is really inspirational. If you listen closely to the lyrics, K'Naan, the artist, seems to be telling a horror story from his past. Yes, that may be what it was, but he is really asking for help. K'Naan is from Somalia, and has now moved to Canada. His music talks about experiences, and it all seems very real, unlike some other rap artists.
The song is called Smile, which may sound kind of ironic. It's from K'Naan's first CD The Dusty Foot Philosopher, which I really encourage you to listen to, it's amazing.

Knock on Wood

This song is very interesting. First of all, I really don't like any other songs by this artist, and I almost hate any other Ska music. I don't know why, but I really like this song. This song is The Impression that I Get by the Mighty Mighty Bosstones. I like the very catchy rhythm and interesting lyrics. Also, the topic of this song is very interesting to think about.
This is quite an old song, from 1997 (Ok, not old, but not exactly new either), but really catches my ear.

Losing the Feeling of Feeling Unique

A new song that I've been listening to lately is Nine in the Afternoon by Panic! At the Disco. I like this song because it sounds very happy and up-beat. Also, the lyrics are very interesting, including the title of this post, "Losing the Feeling of Feeling Unique". It kind of seems like there are some hidden messages in the words that he sings in this song.
This song is from Panic! At the Disco's latest CD: Pretty. Odd.
